Fringe events

Fringe events are run independently of the main conference programme, by a range of bodies from the local government family. These sessions are optional, but cover topics of key interest to delegates.

To date, the following organisation has confirmed they will be holding an event:

  • Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA)

These events will take place at 17.30 on Monday 18 October.

Updates and details of new events will be added to this page over the coming months, so keep checking back

Are you interested in talking to members and officers of the standards community in a fresh and exciting way?

The Annual Assembly is the only event dedicated to helping standards committees, officers and local politicians to work together to champion ethical standards and improve member conduct in their authority.

As well as offering delegates a structured programme and lots of networking opportunities, the conference is also a stimulating way for local government organisations to engage with members and officers by hosting a fringe event.

A Place for Standards

‘A place for standards' is focused on sharing good practice, developing high standards and helping authorities to manage a proportionate, cost effective local standards framework.

Although fringe events are independent of the main conference, they play an important role in supporting the aims of the conference and should build on the themes of the conference programme. All fringe events must be open to all conference delegates.

Benefits and promotion

As part of the fringe event package, you will also receive one free delegate place for the two days of the event, including the conference dinner.

All fringe events will receive a 50-word entry on the conference website, and in the final printed conference programme.

If you would like to produce a flyer for your fringe event, we will be happy to enclose this in our final conference mailing, which is sent to all delegates before the conference. We can also include this as an insert in conference delegate packs.

Fringe event times

All fringe events will take place on Monday 18 October from 17.30 – 18.30.

Booking your fringe event

Demand for holding fringe events at last years Assembly was high and you are encouraged to book early to avoid disappointment. Fringe session rooms are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

If you would like to provide a fringe event at this year’s conference or would like further information, please contact Michelle Webb on 0161 817 5352 or michelle.webb@standardsforengland.gov.uk

Please note that rooms are provided free of charge, however any additional expenses incurred, such as refreshments or hire of audio-visual equipment, are the responsibility of the organisation running the fringe event. Standards for England are happy to order these items on your behalf, and invoice your organisation for them after the conference.
